What is legal (certified) translation?
Legal translation is a certified translation produced by a translator licensed by the UAE Ministry of Justice, carrying an official stamp that UAE authorities accept. It’s not just converting words — it’s a legally recognised version of your document that courts and ministries will act on.
Why is legal translation required in the UAE?
Arabic is the official language of the UAE. Most government departments require any foreign-language document to be translated into Arabic before they’ll process it. A casual or machine translation won’t be accepted — it has to be certified by a licensed translator.
What makes a translation “certified” in the UAE?
A certified legal translation carries the stamp of a translator registered with the UAE Ministry of Justice. That stamp shows the translator’s name, registration number and licensed language pair, and the authorities can verify it against the Ministry’s official register. Without that registered stamp, a translation simply won’t be treated as official.
Legal translation vs standard translation — what’s the difference?
- Legal (certified) translation — done by a licensed translator, carries an official stamp, and is accepted by UAE government bodies and courts.
- Standard translation — for information only. No certification, and not valid for official submissions.

Do I need my translation notarised too?
Sometimes. For certain court submissions, company registrations, or embassy uses, the certified translation also needs to be notarised by a public notary — an extra layer of legal authenticity on top of the translator’s stamp. We’ll tell you whether your document needs notarisation before we start, so there are no surprises.
How does legal translation work alongside attestation?

Most documents are translated and stamped within 1–2 working days. Larger files such as multi-page contracts or court bundles take a little longer, and urgent jobs can often be fast-tracked.
